Dr. Hauschka's Rose Nurturing Body Wash and Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Body Milk

Dr. Hauschka's Rose Nurturing Body Wash and Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Body Milk

Yes I love all things natural. Therapeutic essential oils, fresh salad or tea from my own garden and as little GMO foods as possible. I'm not a 100% there yet but I'm going towards a Sustainable Chemical-Free Home.

Thanks to Her World Beauty Club, I recently received my very first #HerWorldBeautyBox! There were a bunch of goodies inside but what got me super excited was the pair of Dr. Hauschka's Rose Nurturing Body Wash and Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Body Milk.

Rose Nurturing Body Wash

I was greeted with the heavenly rose scent as soon as I twisted open the cap. Anyone who loves roses will love it. Oooh, I can feel the layers of stress melting away already. The lather is creamy and not harsh to the skin. With its combination of Quince seed, Suflower oil, Rose oil and Avocado oil, my skin felt soft and the sweet scent of rose lingered. In fact, I kept sniffing my hand as I wrote this review!

Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Body Milk
The body milk contains Quince seed oil, Jojoba oil, Sunflower oil and Olive oil which is super nourishing and provides long lasting hydration for the skin. I tend to have very dry skin, thus this body milk is perfect for me. The Lemon and Lemongrass oil in it gives it a refreshing smell. It reinvigorates me on lazy days. My "Oiler friends" would know, the smell of lemongrass can also helps to repel bugs too!

The rose scent in the Rose Nurturing Body Wash  makes me feel so luxurious and pampered, while Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Body Milk energises me. I'll definitely be back for more!

Ah-Choo Equals Ear-Blocked?

Ah-Choo Equals Ear-Blocked?

I recently had a bad case of blocked ear recently. It started suddenly with a very innocent "ah-choo". And the trouble began. My right ear was totally blocked. I felt that I was in a vacuum, where folks talked and I was sucked into some animated Black & White film. I can see their mouths moving and I could not hear a single thing. It got so bad and embarrassing that I had to discreetly turn more to my left to follow the conversation. The other alternative will be "Huh?" which is so "old man syndrome"! My son asked if I was getting "Lao Kok Kok"! Which meant getting old in Hokkien. Super disheartening.

Hubby was really sweet to go to the pharmacy to get me a bottle of Audiclean. It's a natural isotonic ear wash which is safe to spray into the ear canal. I held back my uneasiness and dutifully sprayed as per advised. Totally no use! I was in despair.

My sister recommended a ear doctor which will cost me S$300 minimum, warning it could be something serious. Ok, I'm a "kiam siap". I wasn't willing to go see the doctor for something as simple as hardened ear wax! My only worry was possible infection, if the vacuum condition continues.

By then my ear problem had lasted more than 2 weeks and I felt my ear swelling up and it always felt like I had a lot of water in my ear. I suspected it's the entire bottle of Audiclean. Sprayed in but unable to come out. I cleaned with Cotton buds but it didn't help. I was also afraid that I might accidentally push the wax further into the ear canal.

We had an oiling chat group where some Oily Buddies will share testimonials on which EOs worked for their family. I love you guys by the way! You know who you are! ❤❤❤ I remembered a friend shared using Thieves, Purification or Lavender EO for ear infections.

@MyOilyFunScoops. All Rights Reserved.

I had to give it a try. It's either that or S$300 session with the doctor! I used a cotton ball and rolled it up tight to fit my ear. Throughout the entire day, I dripped either 1-2 drops of Thieves EO or Purification EO onto the cotton ball and stuffed it into my ear. This is to prevent ear infection.

Next, I gently dabbed Lavender EO around and behind  my ear to draw out the fluid in my ear. For those with more sensitive skin, I suggest you do a patch test before trying or dilute with V-6 or organic coconut oil.

Wherever I shower, I would also use the shower spray to gently clean my ear. Yes, I'll let the warm water enter my ear to soften the ear wax and hopefully, the ear will clean it away naturally.

It worked! And my S$300 well saved. After 3 days of using this remedy, suddenly I had the 'Pop' feeling in the shower. The wax just melted away. I was free! It's wonderful to finally be able to hear properly. Planning to use the money saved to buy more Purification, Lavender and Thieves.

No more "Lao Kok Kok"!

Customised Kymmie-Style JCB Shower & Bath Gel. DIY Of Course! (Bath and Shower Part II)

Customised Kymmie-Style JCB Shower & Bath Gel. DIY Of Course!

Bath and Shower Part II:

Ever tried a hotel's shower gel while on vacation and you found that it's just sooooo lovely and it frustrates you because the shower gels are usually customised for the hotel and is not available for sale back at home? Well, I had this experience recently.

I loved the bath gel of an XXX brand. Read the descriptions on the bottle in detail and realised that there's JasmineCedarwood and Bergamot essential oils in it. All these oils are available right at home! I'm not the "Oil Queen" for nothing you know! *Wink*

Read up more on the uses for the trio and they are:
1. Jasmine - Emotionally uplifting and stress reliever
2. Cedarwood - Anti-bacterial and calming
3. Bergamot - helps to sleep well

After falling in love with my Young Living Lavender Bath & Shower Gel and a successful trial with my DIY Bug Repellent spray, my itchy fingers started to long for the Young Living Bath & Shower Gel Base. I can try to mix my very own "Kymmie-style" Bath Gel. With glee, I carted a bottle out in my current month's order.

It took some adjustments to my customised and "Oh So Luxurious! Kymmie JCB ™" shower gel. Finally this is what I'm satisfied with. Try it out, I simply love my blend!

  • 5 drops of Jasmine EO
  • 10 drops of Cedarwood EO
  • 10 drops of Bergamot EO
  • 1 bottle Young Living Bath & Shower Gel Base
*Drip the essential oils into the shower gel base & shake bottle well before each use.

@MyOilyFunScoops. All Rights Reserved.

Now I'll alternate between the Young Living Lavender Bath & Shower Gel & "Kymmie JCB™" shower gel depending on my mood. The feeling of going to a spa daily!

The combinations are endless with your own essential oils at home. You can also leave the Shower Gel Base unmixed in the shower. Just decide your Oil-Of-The-Day and drip 1 drop of it to the shower gel base every time you shower.

My Hoard of Bath Gels

My Hoard of Bath Gels

I love my rebate points. When it's accumulated to a certain amount, I can redeem my Young Living products for free. My current fetish is the bath gels. Look at the number of different bottles for me and my kiddo!

@MyOilyFunScoops. All Rights Reserved.

Curiosity first got me trying the Lavender Bath & shower Gel. I have got many friends who loves it and said it smells so heavenly. The shower gel does not contain chemicals or synthetic preservatives. Other than Lavender, it also contains other plant-based ingredients such as coconut oil and star anise. There is a friend who finds it a bit drying for her skin though, as Lavender oil can dry our skin. That is why Lavender can be great for minor cuts and wounds, it'll dry up the wound fast to enable healing.

My verdict? It works great for me. I had tried it for a month. Maybe my skin is on the combination side. I don't find it drying. A very big bonus is that it smells great! The bathroom smells of lingering lavender. I'm a sucker for that. It relaxes me when I'm taking a bath. Onward to my second bottle in my ER next month!

For folks with a bath tub at home, consider pouring some bath gel into the tub for a luxurious soak. No tub, just use some Epsom Salts and drip some Lavender Oil for a relaxing feet soak in a pail or basin after a hard day's work.

Kid has started using the KidScents Bath Gel. Hmm maybe I should get him to give me his feedback in a short paragraph in his own words. LOL Won't that be interesting?

@MyOilyFunScoops. All Rights Reserved.

From a mummy's standpoint, I'm not worried that he'll accidentally get soap suds into his mouth when he takes a bath as it's made from natural ingredients. It's gentle on a child's skin and it does not contain any synthetic perfumes. Very young children of course, should still use the product with an adult's supervision. It's made of plant-based ingredients does not mean you can just 'Kanpai' and drink it up like a can of coke.

Only issue I have now is how to get him not to waste my Kidscents Bath Gel. It smells so good with Aloe Vera, Lemon and Cedarwood and he loves to take long baths in the shower! His bottle of KidScents Bath Gel is not going to last that long. Well, a nice smelling baby is better than one who doesn't like to take baths. I kept consoling myself.

"What If I Can't Find My New Class?"

"What If I Can't Find My New Class?"

For friends who had met my son, they will see him as a super cheerful child. Unconcerned about school and his only topic of interest will be Elephants and becoming a Zookeeper when he grows up. Whenever anyone asked if he likes school, his response is always a definite "Yes!".

Thus, I was really surprised to find him a bit gloomy the day before the school term starts in 2017. When asked, he blurted this question to me. "Mum, what if I can't find my new class?"

I was stunned. Sometimes, I forget that emotionally, he's still more vulnerable than his peers of the same age. Probably it's because he's so much taller than his friends! Tall boy ≠ Big boy.

2017 marks the start of his fourth year in primary school and most of his classmates in 2016 had been assigned to different classes. The poor boy was worried that he would not be able to find his new class in the hall on the first day of school. Imagine the School Hall full to the max with Primary One to Primary Six students, his anxiety was understandable. This is also the first year his school practises single session. Last year, P1s & P2s were in the afternoon session.

I did what all Oily mummies would do. Immediately, I whipped out my treasure trove. Applied some Cedarwood on his brain stem and shoulders for a good night's sleep and dripped some Lavender oil on the corner of his pillow for relaxation.

The next morning, I added some Vetiver on his lower spine for some much needed confidence. Not forgetting the usual immunity boosting Thieves on feet and NXR drink.

He came back happy from school on the first day. A  school challenging year for mummy starts! Fighting!

Young Living SG Promotion for December 2016

Young Living SG Promotion for December 2016

It's coming to the end of the year. Time really flies, doesn't it? Very soon, school holidays will be over. Ugghh, panic another time! #WhereIsMyStressAway

Ho Ho Ho! Christmas is almost upon us. Don't say I never remind all of ya. Get your pressies early! Scrambling around last minute is no joke. If you'll be hosting parties this month, consider getting the Thieves Dish Soap and Thieves Foaming Hand Wash. They are yours free at 350PV. Check out the other member freebies below.
  • Melissa - The next most expensive EO after Rose, this is certainly worth taking notice. Aka the Lemon Balm, Melissa is known to help with anxiety and strengthens our memory. This is why my favourite Brain Power has Melissa oil in it too! It can help support a healthy digestive system. I wouldn't diffuse as it's darn expensive! :P Instead, consider diluting with V-6 and apply to your tummy or base of neck. Chase that sadness away! Don't let negative thoughts crowd you.
  • Myrrh - This essential oil is very often mentioned in skincare products. Alert alert ladies! Adding Myrrh to our favourite skincare regime may improve the appearance of dull, dry skin. Ensure your skincare products are without parabens or other harmful chemicals. I have yet the time to read up and study the ingredients of any off-the-shelf products, a safer bet would be using YL's ART skincare set with Myrrh. It can also help with minor skin irritations, cuts and burns.
  • Thieves Dish Soap - Using natural ingredients without chemicals, dyes and synthetics. If your aim is moving towards a chemical free home. Give this a try! The dish soap has Thieves, Jade Lemon and Bergamot in it, a definite plus in smell!
  • Thieves Foaming Hand Wash - Went to a friend's place previously and she had this hand soap in the guest toilet. How luxurious! I have come to love the smell of Thieves. Needless to say, I found many excuses to go to her washroom. Keke!
  • Stress Away - The name of the blend said it all. Just go away Stress! Not welcome here. I'll need lots of that when the school reopens. It's yours free for Essential Rewards Early Birds who orders a PV of 150-269 between December 1st-15th. I love to diffuse it, as it's soothing and comforting. It was a life-saver when I had pack the house for a move the year before. #IHateMovingHouse
