Using Einkorn Flour In My Philips Breadmaker!

Using Einkorn Flour In My Philips Breadmaker!

I can make my own bread! #PatOnMyBack Been meaning to boast about my first breadmaker. Only had time to write about it today. I totally need to apply Motivation essential oil! #MeLoveToProcrastinate #IHashtagTooMuch

  • Motivation - It's a blend to get your butt moving. Basically my butt. As the name suggests, the oil can ease stress and the reluctance to move forward. The Spruce and Lavender in it will ground and calm our mind. Roman Chamomile and Ylang Ylang will relax muscles and restores confidence. I love the smell and will often wear it on my diffuer necklace.

Most folks think that Stay-at-home-Mums (SAHM) are darn free. Once we stopped working, we'll have all the time in the world to clean the house, cook 3 meals a day and bake beautiful pastries. Hubby will come home daily to a house spick-and-span, smelling of delicious baked bread or home-cooked meal and Moi, the wife still looking fresh and waiting at the door with slippers. Well, most are dead wrong! Instead, I'm feeling shack from 24/7 facing the child. No leave, no MC. I'm rambling. Just ignore me. :)

Still, I try my best to ensure my child eats well. My good friend, Shirley, introduced the breadmaker to me during a playdate. Wow, was I impressed! It's super easy to use and clean. Most suitable for a lazy person like me.

I bought the Philips Breadmaker to reduce buying bread off the shelf. In this way, I can switch the ingredients to a healthier option, using organic products whenever possible and adding nuts and seeds in my bread. I use organic flour instead of the normal white flour, milk in replacement of butter, and Himalayan Sea Salt instead of white salt and organic sugar.

The results was surprisingly well-received. Both my hubby and son love them. It's especially so for my child and he now prefers my homemade bread to the ones outside. Unless it's soft gooey red bean. I can never win red bean bread haha. I kept them to a minimum for him as I have yet to promote to oven-baked bread. One of my concerns with eating bread in school on a daily basis is indigestion. However, my child likes nothing else for his recess.

Recently I started experimenting with the Young Living's Einkorn Flour. It's one of the oldest variety of wheat before we started having all the hybrid or mutated versions. It's low gluten level makes it more compatible with our body as compared to the newer varieties of wheat. Einkorn grain has 14 chromosomes, while modern wheat has 42. Thus, Einkorn is easier to digest, making it easier on our digestive system and nutrients will be better absorbed.

It's stated on the website that Einkorn flour can be substituted on a 1:1 ratio with all purpose flour or whole-wheat flours. I'm a baking dummy and I find that if I substitute it all with my Hi-Protein flour. The bread goes all flat and hard. Thus after a few tries, I decided 20% substitution works best for my breadmaker. The bread is soft and fluffy, and it's actually more flavourful due to the addition of the Einkorn Flour. It is indeed more digestible than normal bread. Yay to me!
