Bon Appetit at CULINARYON!

Bon Appetit at CULINARYON!

There's a new place in town. You can learn to make your own spaghetti, a chef will be there to teach you how to cook it to perfection. VoilĂ ! I had such a fun time that I felt that I simply had to share it with all my friends.

It's a great venue for private or birthday parties, team-building events. Just leave me a message, I'll link you up to the Events Manager for CULINARYON. For ad hoc girlfriends or parent-child bonding sessions, you can just check their latest schedule online at CULINARYON SG. There are scheduled classes with chosen meal sets to choose from.

Cream pasta seems to be one dish I can never master. I can cook tomato-base pasta just fine. My son loves it. But I admit I'm a failure at Carbonara. Each time, the sauce tasted funny and I had to throw the whole pot of sauce away. What a waste!

When an invite came from my fellow Young Living Oiler and buddy Serene, from Xavvy-licious, to join her in a pasta making class on 4th May 2016, I jumped at the chance. From the series of pictures below, you can see that the setting is not your ordinary cooking class. It's Elegance in a cooking studio! I was spoiled the moment I stepped into the premises. The ambience was classy, romantic and bustling.

Sipping drinks while chatting with old friends, new friends. Yummy finger foods arranged delectably. How to resist? I admit I binged even before the cooking event started.

It was really a meal from scratch. Any more fresher, you probably have to grow the ingredients yourself. Look at the wonderfully fresh tomatoes, eggs and fruits! Our chef, Daniel, even taught us a few handy kitchen tips to make cooking a better experience.

Pasta-making time from flour up! Definitely a first for me. To my surprise, making your own fettuccine does not take long. It's actually possible to make it in our own kitchen with the right tools.

Chef Daniel and his sous chefs then proceeded to cook the pasta for the class. We were taught how to present the pasta to make it look more appetising to our guests. Dashes of Mozzarella Cheese and Olive oil and it's Bon Appetit! Something about making the pasta ourselves. It's definitely 'Yum' in every bite. Serene and I were thinking that the dish would be perfect with a swirl of Young Living's Taste of Italy essential oil. I will definitely try it at home the next time I cook.

Fruit salad with Mango ice cream for dessert? I had two helpings. That's an indication on how delicious it was. Now how to convince my hubby to buy me the Kenwood Mixer. :)

I need to Power Up My Brain!

"Son: Mom, can I have Brain Power?
Me: Why? (super puzzled)
Son: I need to Power Up my brain! :p"

Exam Anxiety? Since Brain Power (BP) is one of the freebie oils for members in May 2016. I thought I will talk a little about it in my blog this time. Strangely enough, my child asked me for this oil himself one week ago while he was doing his homework. I was really surprised. The usual oils he will ask for are Clarity, Cedarwood and Frankincense. Think the chase for paper is getting to him seeing his peers gearing up for the Semestral Assessment (SA). That's our mid-year examinations in Singapore.
BP promotes deep concentration and helps to channel physical energy into mental energy. Some of the oil in this blends are Frankincense, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Lavender and Helicrysum. Many of the oils are high in sesquiterpene and that helps to increase activity in our Pineal, Pituitary and Hypothalamus glands.

Well since BP has Frankincense and Cedarwood, I guess he's covering most of his usual oils. Lols! This is his Exam Stress Buster oil!

How to use? I would usually apply 1-2 drops of BP on my palm and start applying on his brain stem (concave area just above the back of his neck), temples and rub the balance oil on my palm and allow him to inhale. You can also apply to the bottom of feet (the 2 big toes). Search for the VitaFlex Feet Chart. The big toes are where the Brain, Pineal and Pituitary glands are. Do exercise caution if you are using the oil for the first time. I can use it neat does not necessary means you can too. Dilute with V6 Vegetable oil if needed.

Good luck to all our kiddos who has papers coming up!

Respiratory Oils for Child

Respiratory Oils For Children

My son, Jayden, has sinus issues since young. Like his Daddy, he will start sneezing every morning when he first gets out of bed. He will also get a Cold, Flu or Congestion every time after water play or swimming. My visits to the Paediatrician is as often as visiting my local cinema. I can make wantons very well too. Loads and loads of tissue papers. Achoo! You can probably imagine the rest.

R.C essential oil is for all symtoms related to respiratory control. It's my best friend. I am so grateful to have found it that I am ready to kiss Dr Gary Young if I do meet him! (On the cheeks of course, else my hub will kill me! LOL) I will apply on his chest every morning and also each time after his water play or swimming sessions. You can also apply on foot, padded area beneath the toes (refer to the Foot VitaFlex in my photo) or diffuse. Always exercise caution when you first try any new oils. I can apply Neat on my child doesn't mean that you can too. Please do a test patch or dilute with V6. Safest way of using will always be to diffuse or apply on foot.  I see less running nose therafter and less visits to the Paediatrician. After his respiratory issues got under control, I began to work on improving his immunity. See my earlier blog post on boosting kids immunity.

One fine day, R.C went out of stock at Young Living Singapore. Imagine my horror! As usual, no spares for me as I thought I can always get the oils whenever I need them. Fortunately, fellow oilers shared that there are other alternatives to R.C for supporting our respiratory system. I experimented abit and found that Dorado Azul and Raven do work for my child as well. Now I have the joy of being able to rotate the oils around for a change. Sometimes, I'll just leave it to Jayden to decide which respiratory oil he wants.

Faith Teo, from the 'Let's Add Oil' Facebook group also shared recently that Myrtle, Eucalyptus Radiata and Ravintsara are good oils to try for our children. I do love listening to her videos online. She's always so willing to share. Unfortunately, Eucalyptus Radiata is out of stock at Young Living SG. I have ordered Myrtle and Ravintsara (from Young Living USA) recently.Once I get to try the oils will definitely do another writeup to share! :)

My Love-Hate Relationship With Badminton

My Love-Hate Relationship With Badminton

Haven't touched my badminton racket in years. One thing about this game. You have to be sociable and be willing to travel. I can't jolly well play Badminton by myself. It's a minimum two persons' game. Yes, I used to knock the shuttlecock against the wall when I was a kid. Ended up getting more scoldings than normal. The black marks on the wall is the reason why my father had to repaint the wall every year. LOL

When a friend asked if I'll like to join their weekly game. I readily agreed, forgetting my age. Gosh, what monster aches I have after the game! My right side of the body felt paralysed. I used Peppermint, layered with Wintergreen to ease my abused muscles. Initially, I had to apply every 30 minutes. Gradually, it was more manageable so frequency was reduced to 3 times a day.

  • Peppermint - Anti-inflammatory and pain relieving
  • Wintergreen - Reduces muscle and nerve pain

Other oils recommended by fellow oilers are PanAway and Cool Azul Sports Gel. Have you tried them?
