My Hoard of Bath Gels

My Hoard of Bath Gels

I love my rebate points. When it's accumulated to a certain amount, I can redeem my Young Living products for free. My current fetish is the bath gels. Look at the number of different bottles for me and my kiddo!

@MyOilyFunScoops. All Rights Reserved.

Curiosity first got me trying the Lavender Bath & shower Gel. I have got many friends who loves it and said it smells so heavenly. The shower gel does not contain chemicals or synthetic preservatives. Other than Lavender, it also contains other plant-based ingredients such as coconut oil and star anise. There is a friend who finds it a bit drying for her skin though, as Lavender oil can dry our skin. That is why Lavender can be great for minor cuts and wounds, it'll dry up the wound fast to enable healing.

My verdict? It works great for me. I had tried it for a month. Maybe my skin is on the combination side. I don't find it drying. A very big bonus is that it smells great! The bathroom smells of lingering lavender. I'm a sucker for that. It relaxes me when I'm taking a bath. Onward to my second bottle in my ER next month!

For folks with a bath tub at home, consider pouring some bath gel into the tub for a luxurious soak. No tub, just use some Epsom Salts and drip some Lavender Oil for a relaxing feet soak in a pail or basin after a hard day's work.

Kid has started using the KidScents Bath Gel. Hmm maybe I should get him to give me his feedback in a short paragraph in his own words. LOL Won't that be interesting?

From a mummy's standpoint, I'm not worried that he'll accidentally get soap suds into his mouth when he takes a bath as it's made from natural ingredients. It's gentle on a child's skin and it does not contain any synthetic perfumes. Very young children of course, should still use the product with an adult's supervision. It's made of plant-based ingredients does not mean you can just 'Kanpai' and drink it up like a can of coke.

Only issue I have now is how to get him not to waste my Kidscents Bath Gel. It smells so good with Aloe Vera, Lemon and Cedarwood and he loves to take long baths in the shower! His bottle of KidScents Bath Gel is not going to last that long. Well, a nice smelling baby is better than one who doesn't like to take baths. I kept consoling myself.

"What If I Can't Find My New Class?"

"What If I Can't Find My New Class?"

For friends who had met my son, they will see him as a super cheerful child. Unconcerned about school and his only topic of interest will be Elephants and becoming a Zookeeper when he grows up. Whenever anyone asked if he likes school, his response is always a definite "Yes!".

Thus, I was really surprised to find him a bit gloomy the day before the school term starts in 2017. When asked, he blurted this question to me. "Mum, what if I can't find my new class?"

I was stunned. Sometimes, I forget that emotionally, he's still more vulnerable than his peers of the same age. Probably it's because he's so much taller than his friends! Tall boy ≠ Big boy.

2017 marks the start of his fourth year in primary school and most of his classmates in 2016 had been assigned to different classes. The poor boy was worried that he would not be able to find his new class in the hall on the first day of school. Imagine the School Hall full to the max with Primary One to Primary Six students, his anxiety was understandable. This is also the first year his school practises single session. Last year, P1s & P2s were in the afternoon session.

I did what all Oily mummies would do. Immediately, I whipped out my treasure trove. Applied some Cedarwood on his brain stem and shoulders for a good night's sleep and dripped some Lavender oil on the corner of his pillow for relaxation.

The next morning, I added some Vetiver on his lower spine for some much needed confidence. Not forgetting the usual immunity boosting Thieves on feet and NXR drink.

He came back happy from school on the first day. A  school challenging year for mummy starts! Fighting!

Young Living SG Promotion for December 2016

Young Living SG Promotion for December 2016

It's coming to the end of the year. Time really flies, doesn't it? Very soon, school holidays will be over. Ugghh, panic another time! #WhereIsMyStressAway

Ho Ho Ho! Christmas is almost upon us. Don't say I never remind all of ya. Get your pressies early! Scrambling around last minute is no joke. If you'll be hosting parties this month, consider getting the Thieves Dish Soap and Thieves Foaming Hand Wash. They are yours free at 350PV. Check out the other member freebies below.
  • Melissa - The next most expensive EO after Rose, this is certainly worth taking notice. Aka the Lemon Balm, Melissa is known to help with anxiety and strengthens our memory. This is why my favourite Brain Power has Melissa oil in it too! It can help support a healthy digestive system. I wouldn't diffuse as it's darn expensive! :P Instead, consider diluting with V-6 and apply to your tummy or base of neck. Chase that sadness away! Don't let negative thoughts crowd you.
  • Myrrh - This essential oil is very often mentioned in skincare products. Alert alert ladies! Adding Myrrh to our favourite skincare regime may improve the appearance of dull, dry skin. Ensure your skincare products are without parabens or other harmful chemicals. I have yet the time to read up and study the ingredients of any off-the-shelf products, a safer bet would be using YL's ART skincare set with Myrrh. It can also help with minor skin irritations, cuts and burns.
  • Thieves Dish Soap - Using natural ingredients without chemicals, dyes and synthetics. If your aim is moving towards a chemical free home. Give this a try! The dish soap has Thieves, Jade Lemon and Bergamot in it, a definite plus in smell!
  • Thieves Foaming Hand Wash - Went to a friend's place previously and she had this hand soap in the guest toilet. How luxurious! I have come to love the smell of Thieves. Needless to say, I found many excuses to go to her washroom. Keke!
  • Stress Away - The name of the blend said it all. Just go away Stress! Not welcome here. I'll need lots of that when the school reopens. It's yours free for Essential Rewards Early Birds who orders a PV of 150-269 between December 1st-15th. I love to diffuse it, as it's soothing and comforting. It was a life-saver when I had pack the house for a move the year before. #IHateMovingHouse

Young Living SG Promotion for November 2016

Young Living SG Promotion for November 2016

November is the month for the Luxurious Rose. The long-awaited Rose Member freebie is back with a purchase of 500PV. That's worth S$298.50 (wholesale price). As far as I know, Rose essential oil as our member's freebie only comes in once a year. So, Chiong ah! That's a bit of dialect for 'Let's rush'! Other than that, you'll be also getting Motivation (only available in YL USA currently), Magnify Your Purpose and Common Sense.

  • Rose - An oil with the highest frequency. I consider it the Mother of all essential oils. When in doubt of what oil to use, I'll go to Rose. Yes, the price may deter most folks from trying out this amazing single, myself included. That's why I'll whack when there is a promotion. Rose has long been associated with Romance and Beauty. Try a DIY Rose water, said to reduce wrinkles, plus the anti-inflammatory properties can help to tighten pores and reduce scars. The wonderful smell of Rose can be a good relaxant and calm anxiety. I use Rose and Geranium interchangeably. Geranium for daily use and Rose when I want to pamper myself abit.
  • Motivation - Available for sale in YL USA only. Given that the US exchange rate has risen so much against the S$. It's a lucky thing that we can get this oil this month for free. For folks who procrastinate a lot (pointing to Moi), you'll need this. Motivation attracts positive energy and action, and helps to overcome feelings of fear. You can apply on the shoulders, base of neck and even round the naval to calm the butterflies you had been keeping in your tummy. The blend of Ylang Ylang, Roman Chamomile and Lavender smells wonderful.
  • Magnify Your Purpose - This is an amplifier. So use it last to strengthen your goals or intentions. For example, I will use Brain Power on the Brain Stem and layer it with Magnify Your Purpose (MYP) next. MYP is a blend of Sandalwood, Patchouli, Nutmeg, Ginger, Bergamot, Ylang Ylang and Geranium. Sandalwood gives it a distinct woody smell and the presence of Ginger and Nutmeg makes it a hot oil. Please dilute if necessary. Most use it neat though.
  • Common Sense - This is not an oil which I normally use. Definitely don't want to be seen as a lady without common sense! Duh! I went to read it up as this is inclusive in this month's member promotion. Little did I know I have been missing out in this gem of an oil! It's specially formulated by Dr Gary Young to improve our acumen and decision-making. Should have started using it long ago! I might have saved more of my brain cells. :P Common Sense has Frankincense and Dorado Azul, both my definite favourites. Can't wait to try it!

Using Einkorn Flour In My Philips Breadmaker!

Using Einkorn Flour In My Philips Breadmaker!

I can make my own bread! #PatOnMyBack Been meaning to boast about my first breadmaker. Only had time to write about it today. I totally need to apply Motivation essential oil! #MeLoveToProcrastinate #IHashtagTooMuch

  • Motivation - It's a blend to get your butt moving. Basically my butt. As the name suggests, the oil can ease stress and the reluctance to move forward. The Spruce and Lavender in it will ground and calm our mind. Roman Chamomile and Ylang Ylang will relax muscles and restores confidence. I love the smell and will often wear it on my diffuer necklace.

Most folks think that Stay-at-home-Mums (SAHM) are darn free. Once we stopped working, we'll have all the time in the world to clean the house, cook 3 meals a day and bake beautiful pastries. Hubby will come home daily to a house spick-and-span, smelling of delicious baked bread or home-cooked meal and Moi, the wife still looking fresh and waiting at the door with slippers. Well, most are dead wrong! Instead, I'm feeling shack from 24/7 facing the child. No leave, no MC. I'm rambling. Just ignore me. :)

@MyOilyFunScoops. All Rights Reserved.

Still, I try my best to ensure my child eats well. My good friend, Shirley, introduced the breadmaker to me during a playdate. Wow, was I impressed! It's super easy to use and clean. Most suitable for a lazy person like me.

I bought the Philips Breadmaker to reduce buying bread off the shelf. In this way, I can switch the ingredients to a healthier option, using organic products whenever possible and adding nuts and seeds in my bread. I use organic flour instead of the normal white flour, milk in replacement of butter, and Himalayan Sea Salt instead of white salt and organic sugar.

The results was surprisingly well-received. Both my hubby and son love them. It's especially so for my child and he now prefers my homemade bread to the ones outside. Unless it's soft gooey red bean. I can never win red bean bread haha. I kept them to a minimum for him as I have yet to promote to oven-baked bread. One of my concerns with eating bread in school on a daily basis is indigestion. However, my child likes nothing else for his recess.

Recently I started experimenting with the Young Living's Einkorn Flour. It's one of the oldest variety of wheat before we started having all the hybrid or mutated versions. It's low gluten level makes it more compatible with our body as compared to the newer varieties of wheat. Einkorn grain has 14 chromosomes, while modern wheat has 42. Thus, Einkorn is easier to digest, making it easier on our digestive system and nutrients will be better absorbed.

It's stated on the website that Einkorn flour can be substituted on a 1:1 ratio with all purpose flour or whole-wheat flours. I'm a baking dummy and I find that if I substitute it all with my Hi-Protein flour. The bread goes all flat and hard. Thus after a few tries, I decided 20% substitution works best for my breadmaker. The bread is soft and fluffy, and it's actually more flavourful due to the addition of the Einkorn Flour. It is indeed more digestible than normal bread. Yay to me!

I Needed A Skin Test, Not Permanent Tattoos!

I Needed A Skin Test, Not Permanent Tattoos!

Did a Skin Test today. They had to use black markers to mark the area when they put the lotion for skin analysis. I didn't think much of the markings and went back home happily after the test.

Little did I know. After a full shower plus additional shower foam and hand soap on my arm, the markings are still fairly visible. Yipes! I didn't ask for a permanent tattoo. My rebellious days are over. Yes, they will probably go away after a few more washings/days but I decided to test it out with my essential oils. #TheScientistInMe

I used a little Lemon essential oil dripped directly on the marker stains. After that, just gently clean it off with a piece of tissue. No hard rubbings needed. Lemon oil rocks!

Had to enlist the help of my son to take pictures for me. Thank you Jayden! :)
